Synopsis

What if everything we know about our history, religion, and folklore were based on a limited understanding of technology and of other forces in the universe?

A Maya codex lost to history may reveal the mysteries of our past. In 1562 the inquisitor Friar Diego de Landa ordered an auto-da-fé at Maní, in Yucatán, where hundreds of manuscripts, statues, and religious artifacts were burned and destroyed, along with countless sacred objects.

The reason the Church gave for this massacre of knowledge was that it would help convert the indigenous people to the Catholic religion. The reality was very different: the true motive was the discovery of a codex that would call into question everything we know about history. Inside it hides information that could destroy many religions around the world, especially the Catholic one.

In 2018 a copy of that codex is found. Taine Kamu, a renowned polyglot with mental difficulties, sets out on an astonishing adventure in which nothing is what it seems, and the stories in the religious books are put to the test. This novel carries you from the past to the future and from uncertainty to the possible reality of a history that was never told, where your own inquiries matter as much as those of the protagonists.

Several hidden subjects run between the pages of this book. Do not overlook certain irregularities: they can give you a deeper reading.
